The State Emblem of Republic Moldova represents the board crossed across, in which top part is a red field, in bottom is dark blue one. In the centre of a board the head of the bison is represented, between which horns there is an eight-beam star, to the right of a head — a five-petal rose, at the left — a half moon turned and slightly inclined to the right. All elements on a board are golden (yellow). The board is placed on a breast of the eagle represented full-scale, holding in a beak a gold cross (eagle-crusader), in claws of the right paw — a green olive branch, left — a gold scepter. The republic Moldova is the small country in the Southeast Europe which borders in the east on Ukraine, and in the west — on Romania. Its past has the rich history full of disturbing and drama events. Since XIV century it is a component of Moldavian province. On conditions of the Bucharest armistice concluded in 1812, the part of this territory — between the Rod and Dnestr — has departed to Imperial Russia which has named it as Bessarabia. The present territory of Republic Moldova is less than that which has departed in possession of Russian authorities in 1812 as Khotin in the North, Аkkerman and Izmail in the south have been given per 1940 by the Soviet authority to Ukraine. In January, 1918 Independence of Democratic Republic Moldova has been proclaimed, and the decision on association with Romania on March, 27th, 1918 was accepted. Last process of annexation took place in 1940 as a result of signing Pact of Molotov — Ribbentrop. Bessarabia has been attached to the USSR and proclaimed Moldavian SSR into which structure have entered only 9 besarabien districts and 6 areas of the Left bank of Dnestr. Owing to the process of re-structuring begun in the countries of Central and the East Europe, on June, 23rd, 1990 Moldova declares the sovereignty, and on August, 27th, 1991 — about the state independence. On March, 2nd, 1992 the Republic Moldova became a member of the United Nations Organization. A state system is: the head of the state is the President. Executive authority is carried out by the government — the cabinet headed by the Prime Minister. |
